Belize... Name That Plant!

Ok folks... this is a "Yucca" type plant with very sharp spikes that seems to blossom every several months. It has grown to a height of 3-4 feet. Any ideas what this is?

there are about 600 types of yucca plants, and frankly I can hardly tell them apart. I believe the yuccas that grow there are the same thing as cassava--the root is used to make a flour product for bread etc.
